Uncle Roger is out to redeem ‘Egg Rice Lady’ with a collab

If you’re one of the million Asians, Latinos and African-Americans who were offended by BBC Radio’s Egg Fried Rice tutorial, then you’d be happy to know that redemption is in store for the program’s now-maligned host, Hersha Patel.

Malaysian comedian Nigel Ng, whose persona ‘Uncle Roger’ went viral for his reaction to the tutorial, tweeted that he has since met up Patel – and a collab is underway!

‘[Patel] is a great presenter, really funny, but don’t post anything mean to Instagram, or otherwise, Uncle Roger will come after you’, said Ng to his followers.

‘I’ve been trolled!’, said Patel, adding that she was merely presenting the recipe BBC gave to her. Not wanting to reveal anything further, Ng teased that his next video will be about Patel showing how she really cooks her rice.

The original BBC Radio tutorial has been around since April 2019 and only resurfaced thanks to Ng’s reaction video, which as has over 5.8 million views as of writing.
