Japan’s PM actually had the decency to quit due to health problems
Sana all
Picture this: an aging leader of a nation, clearly struggling to stay coherent due to his less than a 100% condition, decides to step down from his duties so that his people could be served better.
It seems like a far-fetched idea nowadays, right? Not if you’re from Japan, apparently. Per CNN, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has resigned from his post after nearly 8 years in office due to health reasons. The country’s longest-serving PM suffers from colitis, an incurable inflammatory bowel disease.
According to Japan’s national broadcaster NHK, Abe intends to resign as ‘his illness has worsened and he worries it will cause trouble’. The 65-year-old was reportedly having unannounced hospital visits, which led to growing concerns over his health during the past week. Abe is set to give an official announcement later today.
It’s only common sense
