This Taglish bible wants to, like, make basa the scripture easier

Let’s be honest: very few of us can speak or read in straight Filipino nowadays. Somewhere along the way, we decided to trade ‘nahirapan‘ for ‘na-stress’ and we haven’t looked back since. It’s a condition that is sometimes tagged as conyo-speak, which can either be endearing or irritating, depending on the speaker’s level of exaggeration.

And since Taglish isn’t going away anytime soon, the folks at St. Pauls Catholic Bookstore decided to translate the entire bible as such. Called the ‘New Testament: Pinoy Version, the new take hopes to entice the youth to brush up on their scriptures by making them more relatable.

The best part has to be the sample of the verses, which sounds like a sermon from your enthusiastic friend from Taft.

‘Sobrang na-shock ako sa inyo. Ang dali n’yo namang tinalikuran ang Diyos. Imagine, sobrang bait n’ya at pinadala n’ya si Christ sa atin. Ang Diyos mismo ang pumili sa inyo, tapos ngayon, ine-entertain n’yo ang ibang Gospel?’ (Galatians 1:6)
