Grab your tipsy titos: Spotify may be dropping a karaoke feature
Inuman who
Our family gatherings are about to get a whole lot more futuristic, as Spotify is apparently set to drop a Karaoke feature – that may or may not be for our techy titos.
Per NME, the music app is working on ‘Spotify Karaoke Mode’ after Amazon’s Twitch Sings announced its eventual shutdown in 2021. Traditional karaoke machines are shaking.
The news comes from reverse engineer Jane Wong (@wongmjane), who tweeted out a screenshot of Spotify’s supposed Karaoke Mode with an adjustable vocal level.
Based on her photos, the new interface seems to be based on Spotify’s recent lyric update with added toggles to change the song’s acoustic levels.
Wong has long been looking out for unannounced updates on different apps and software, as she first reported Spotify’s video podcast add-on.

Meanwhile, Spotify remains coy on whether or not the Karaoke feature will actually come to fruition.
‘At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience,’ they shared.
‘Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning… We have no further news to share at this time.’
Either way, we’re ready for it
