‘Fast and Furious’ franchise will end with its 11th film
End of the road
Per Variety, the final run for Dominic Toretto and his family of street racers-turned-heisters-turned-gov’t agents/super soldiers has now been set. The ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise will reportedly conclude with its 11th movie, more than twenty years since its big-screen debut.
Justin Lin, who directed the fourth, five, sixth, and upcoming 9th film, will also be at the helm for the last two movies. However, the report indicates that only the core franchise is ending, as several spinoffs are reportedly in development.
A recent example would be 2019’s ‘Fast and Furious presents: Hobbs & Shaw’, which could also be called ‘Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham: The Movie’.
Still, even if the plot gets more bonkers along the way (F9 apparently takes place in space) and Vin Diesel and Co. are more caricatures than characters, the franchise has collectively grossed over $5.8 billion at the box office, so hey, who are we to complain?
