Tim Burton is dropping a modern Wednesday Addams series
The perfect duo
Iconic dark director Tim Burton is creating a live-action series centered around ‘The Addams Family‘ youngest daughter (and fan favorite), Wednesday Addams.
Per Deadline, the director will reintroduce the classically dark Addams family in a TV series set in the present time, with the perspective from the eyes of an older Wednesday.
ICYDK, the Addams Family is the OG eccentric family all goths wish they had. Created by Charles Addams in 1938, their most famous portrayal is the 1991 Barry Sonnefield sequels starring Raul Julia (Gomez Addams), Anjelica Huston (Morticia Addams), Christina Ricci (Wednesday Addams), and more.
The two films are available to stream on Netflix.
Meanwhile, there’s no word just yet on the cast list and release date for the Burton-helmed Wednesday show.
The series will serve as Burton’s first dive into TV directing. Though with works like ‘Edward Scissorhands‘ and ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ under his belt, he likely won’t have a problem bringing in the Addams Family to the new generation.
