The very first Miss Universe Philippines candidate was a big mood
Queen of side-eye
With all the buzz on Miss Universe Philippines contestants spilling the tea on each other, one mustn’t forget the true queen of shade, Teresita Torralba Sánchez of Malolos, Bulacan, the first-ever Miss Universe Philippines to represent the country.
She was first posted by Facebook page Pageanthology 101 earlier this week. At first glance, the photos seem like the typical paegant test shots, but upon closer inspection there seems to be a whole lot of side-eye action coming from PH’s queen 68 years ago. Good for her.
‘Teresita Sanchez | The first ever Miss Universe Philippines. She represented the Philippines in Miss Universe 1952 in Long Beach, California.’
Upon further research, it’s prove that there were indeed 33 contestants who vied to bag the crown in 1952, with Finland’s Armi Kuusela coming out on top.
As for Teresita? Beauty paegant expert Celso De Guzman shared with Philstar back in 2016 that she’s gone to live a simple life after her short time with paegantry.
‘Her Miss Universe stint opened some job opportunities but Teresita declined all offers including modeling in an art academy in New York and from business firms in San Francisco.’
Can someone say legendaric
