Apparently, Pres. Duterte is the human version of Internet Explorer
Yikes
For the nth time, President Duterte became the roast of the Internet following his lightbulb moment at his recent pvblic address on Tuesday. In it, the 75-year-old confessed that he just realized the importance of conducting affordable tests for COVID-19, nearly 9 months since the pandemic began.
‘Alam mo ang importante pala, sa totoo lang, I realized, it’s the testing, yung swabbing’, he shared. ‘Kasi mahal, I’m trying to figure out a cheaper way of doing it and I will discuss it with the Secretary of Health and Gen. Galvez’.
This isn’t the first time that the Prezzo showed a sluggish grasp of pandemic-related developments. He once suggested using gasoline to disinfect masks (becoming irate when his own people contradicted him) and only admitted that COVID-19 is ‘perhaps’ the country’s main problem in July.
The most recent development proved to be a trigger, as social media likened Duterte to Internet Explorer, Microsoft’s now-defunct browser which had become synonymous with the terms slow and outdated.
Internet Explorer is trending, b/c netizens are mocking Duterte's light bulb moment about the importance of swab tests.
B/c just like Duterte "the 10-Sleeps-Ahead President," Internet Explorer is very slow.
So, if you see Internet Explorer trending here today, now you know.

Like clockwork, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque came to Duterte’s defense, adding that testing has always been the top priority of the administration. Roque once again touted his now-signature claim of having one of the highest testing capacities in Asia.
‘Hindi po totoo yan’, said Roque on criticisms about the govt’s supposed slow realization.
‘Sa mula’t mula po, ang ating prayoridad ay i-improve ang ating testing capacity kaya nga po ngayon, tayo ay isa sa pinakamataas na testing capacity sa Asia’.
