‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ is getting a 3D Disney+ adaptation
Zoo Wee Mama
In case you spent your adolescence devouring Greg Heffley’s diary, er, journal, you’re in for a treat as Disney+ has announced that ‘A Diary of A Wimpy Kid’ is getting its own 3D animated spin.
Following the cynical life of a teenager named Greg, his brothers Rodrick and Manny, and his nerdy best friend Rowley, the popular book series has spawned over 15 books and 4 films since its 2007 debut.
Author Jeff Kinney confirmed the news via Twitter, sharing that it’s been a challenge to keep the Disney+ collab a secret.
‘It’s true! And it’s been so hard to keep this under wraps. I’m glad it’s out there in the world,’ he writes, furthering that the adaptation will be more of an animated film rather than a ‘TV series in the traditional sense’.
We’re also likely seeing Greg and the gang in their original illustrated form, as opposed to the former live adaptations.
Whatever brings back that nostalgia
It’s true! And it’s been so hard to keep this under wraps. I’m glad it’s out there in the world. https://t.co/KsD5J6eqIr
