Maris Racal ate us up with her Filipina theme song transitions
Toyang FTW
It’s rare to see a PH celebrity owning both internet culture and their celebrity status, with the likes of now-TikTok regulars Rico Blanco and Gina Pareño stealing the scene.
Joining in their ranks, actress and honorary baklang kanal member Maris Racal got the Internet spinning when she posted a TikTok last night dancing to APO Hiking Society’s ‘Anna‘, Gary V’s ‘Betty’s in Bed‘, Kamikazee’s ‘Narda‘, Mayonnaise’s ‘Jopay‘, Skusta Lee’s ‘Zebbiana‘, and IVOS’ ‘Hey Barbara‘.
Throughout the 6 songs, we see Maris transform into different personas for each Filipina theme song girl – with a classy white dress for Anna and a 60s ‘fit for Hey Barbara. Our personal fave is the laid-back Toyang, TBH.

Since posting, the Tweet has gained over 115.2K likes, 24.2k retweets, and even got ‘Maris‘ trending on PH Twitter.
This breed of TikTok transitions isn’t anything new, as girls dressing up to different songs is basically the bread and butter of the socmed site. But there’s just something so fascinating about seeing it happen to our old-school PH songs – by someone we’re all too familiar with.
Meanwhile, Maris herself has been pretty active on TikTok (@missmariestella) and Twitter for her hilarious viral clips. Our fave is her iconic rendition of ‘rat jumping around for a food‘.

In case you’re curious (or too young) to know the songs in Maris’ latest TikTok, Twitter user @yoboylglen_ took the liberty of compiling them all into one nifty playlist.
We know what we’re jamming to
