January 2021 is prob gonna be colder than your ex
And that’s saying something
If you think your streak of ‘tinatamad ako maligo’ struggles is gonna end anytime soon, don’t hold your breath. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Metro Manila is set to experience temperatures as low as 21°C for the next five days.
Jan 12, in particular, will see the capital region experience temps somewhere around 22°C – 28°C, with ‘partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains’ brought by the northeast monsoon.
The same goes for the rest of Luzon, with Baguio notably hovering around the 11°C – 13°C range in the coming few. The City of Pines notched a 2021 record of 10.4°C last January 10th. Other notable lows include the usually sweltering Tuguegarao City (17°C), hipster paradise Tagaytay (18°C), and Ilocos Norte’s Laoag City (20°C).

January’s cuddle weather is annually brought by the northeast monsoon, or hanging amihan as Filos like to call it. Monsoons are seasonal rain and wind patterns, and amihan happens to #bless Southeast Asia with winds coming from Siberia in Russia, which is a pretty freaking cold place.
This chilly phenomenon usually lasts from October to March, which we imagine spells bad news for your bathing habits – and the rest of the people in your household.
