This woman dancing in the middle of a military coup is a mood
2021 is basically the ‘This Is Fine’ meme personified. There’s a pandemic going on, people are losing their jobs left and right, the economy is in shambles and yet, life goes on for the rest of us.
This notion seems to apply to Khing Hnin Wai, who recently went viral for accidentally capturing the February 1 military coup in Naypyidaw, Myanmar while filming a dance video. The physical education teacher was doing her routines near Parliament when military vehicles came into view, signaling the takeover.
Apparently, Khing Hnin Wai was recording for a dance competition at the time. She didn’t think anything of the convoy, as it was completely normal to see a few of them since she was near a government district.
A woman did her regular aerobics class out in open without realizing that a coup was taking place in #Myanmar. A Military convoy reaching the parliament can be seen behind the woman as she performs aerobics. Incredible! pic.twitter.com/gRnQkMshDe

Feb 1 was supposed to be the first day of a new government following a general election, which saw Aung San Suu Kyi and her party, the National League for Democracy (NLD) win by a landslide. Myanmar has been under military rule for decades, but has since transitioned into a democracy in recent years.
However, the military-backed opposition claimed that the election results were fraudulent, leading to the takeover by the armed forces. Suu Kyi and her allies are now thought to be under house arrest.
A state of emergency was also declared, which is seen to last a year. While the country did instill a temporary president, much of the power now belongs to the military chief, Min Aung Hlaing.
