Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of the Dead’ is Suicide Squad meets Dead Rising

Zack Snyder is returning to his zombie roots – and he’s bringing a couple of inspirations along with him.

Netflix just released a teaser for the Justice League director’s upcoming horror/heist film, Army of the Dead. The plot revolves around a group of mercenaries taking the ultimate gamble by performing a heist in the middle of an undead-infested Las Vegas. The project marks a return in the zombie genre for Snyder, who first made a name for himself with the 2004 remake of George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead.

Based on the trailer, Army of the Dead seems to take a less serious approach to the apocalypse, mixing the eccentric gang of characters trope in Snyder’s other film, Suicide Squad and the absurdity of Vegas-themed zombies takedowns in the video game franchise, Dead Rising.

Army of the Dead premieres on May 21 on Netflix.
