Natanggap sa Harvard University ang anak ng magsasaka ng gulay at bigas mula sa Bulacan na si Romnick Blanco. Nabigyan siya ng full scholarship kung saan ay kasama na rin dito ang kanyang tuition, magiging tirahan sa Boston, plane ticket, maging ang kanyang wardrobe allowance.

Ayon sa ilang mga ulat, pangpito si Blanco sa siyam na magkakapatid. Isa raw siyang masipag na mag-aaral at naranasan niyang maglakad ng dalawang oras para makarating sa kanyang paaralan sa Sierra Madre, Bulacan. Kinakailangan niyang tumawid sa ilog dahil hindi rin kagandahan ang daanan sa kanilang lugar.
