League of Legends is having a Netflix series soon

Playing League of Legends through your desktop or mobile phones may seem fun, but wait until it hits your screen for a different reason – a brand new tv show! Netflix announced League of Legends’ first animated series called Arcane

Arcane is set in the utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun. It follows the story of two iconic League champions and the power that will tear them apart. This series marks the first-ever television series produced by Riot Games together with Fortiche Productions.

‘League of Legends has inspired global fervor and fandom and we’re thrilled to be the home of the first television series set in this universe, Arcane.’ said Dominique Bazay, Director for Original Animation for Netflix. ‘The series promises to be a visually spectacular thrill ride that will have viewers on the edge of their seats.’

While details are scarce, Riot Games Pres. of Ent Shauna Spenley promises Arcane as a ‘love letter’ to player and fans, who have been clamoring for more cinematic experiences that feature the lore of League of Legends.

Riot Games expands its global fanbase as it garnered over 14 billion views on its videos globally. The League of Legends 2020 World Championship esports competition saw record-setting viewership across multiple metrics. Adding to that is their upcoming tv series that will surely make waves as well.

Initially set to premiere in 2020, the release date moved to premiere on Netflix worldwide in Fall 2021.
