A student created a DIY microscope for 35 pesos

There many contests that surface online, most of which are giveaways by content creators on social media platforms. When it comes to TikTok, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) actually held one as well through their @pinoyscience account.

In a report by Manila Bulletin, Jeremy C. de Leon is the first-ever victor of DOST’s  #PinoyInnovator TikTok Hashtag Challenge. His prize-winning invention of the microscope worth 35 pesos was made up of a laser pointer and a bobby pin. He also used pliers, tape, and his mobile phone to make it work.

The challenge aimed to showcase just how creative and resourceful Filipinos can be by using common household items to develop useful innovations.
