Smell like the sunflowers in Van Gogh’s painting with an upcoming perfume
Since the Van Gogh Museum is located in Amsterdam, not everyone can take a look at their artworks with a snap of a finger. Although wouldn’t it seem bizarre, but yet intriguing to get a feel of Van Gogh’s masterpieces through a scent?
The Van Gough Museum partnered with a British fragrance brand called Floral Street to create a scent inspired by the artist’s several paintings, as per Artnet News. While the museum curators won’t be involved in mixing the scents, its licensing manager Marjun Veraart shared that their team will help verify any details that will be used about Van Gogh’s life.
‘It is of utmost importance that the reputation of Van Gogh, his art and the museum is protected and treated with great care and respect,’ Veraart explained.
There have been countless Van Gogh-themed items after more than a century since the artist created his well-known pieces. The museum’s collaboration with Floral Street is a move to share the artist’s work as an experience.
Veraart explained, ‘Our collaboration with Floral Street broadens the reach into a different product category for the Van Gogh Museum—driving awareness, interest, and participation, furthering the implementation of the museum’s mission to inspire a diverse audience for future generations.’

Floral Street got a digital artist to give a fresh spin in one of Van Gogh’s artworks for the collaboration. The fragrance brand’s founder Michelle Feeney hasn’t revealed which exact painting they’ll be using, but gave a hint to Artnet News that the first scent will be “one of his most recognizable masterpieces.”
The names behind the fragrances and scented home products haven’t been released, but it is set to launch in August. Will there be a sunflower scented perfume reminiscent of Van Gogh’s Vase with Twelve Flowers painting? Or maybe a star-inspired candle taking cues from the Starry Night masterpiece?
