The 5 types of Hustlers in your social circle

Gone are the days when people would settle for a 9 to 5 job until retirement. Today, a 20-something is a hustler who looks for unique and creative ways to expand their income, or even ditch the office life altogether.

So it’s most likely we know a hustler or two in our social circles. They each have their own quirks or modus in earning that sweet, sweet moolah. They can be amusing, annoying, or downright weird, but one thing’s consistent: their unrelenting ‘entrepreneurial’ spirit.

Sidenote: While we may make fun of said hustlers, we really can’t blame them for trying. Earning while you sleep IS the dream. If you plan to start your own biz, consider joining Facebook groups such as the Dell Entrepreneurial Network (DEN).

DEN is a growing community of business owners, entrepreneurs, and enthusiasts, with the intent to share industry tips, resources, and networking opportunities for aspiring moneymakers such as yourself. Join the Dell group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/denph

The Networker

Hustler - The Networker

The look: This hustler is a long-lost schoolmate/co-worker/acquaintance who has barely spoken 5 words in the entire time you’ve known them but is now suspiciously interested to ‘reconnect’.

The strategy: ‘Bro, haven’t seen in you in forev, let’s grab coffee?’, or any other random invite. This supposedly sweet gesture turns out to be a pitch for an insurance plan or a pyramid sch- erm, ‘program’.

The Aspiring Influencer

Hustler - The Aspiring Influencer

The look: That one friend who is absolutely brimming with confidence. Loves to document every facet of her life to her followers. Name it; whether it’s a beach trip to Bohol or chewing her lunch, the camera seems to follow them everywhere.

The strategy: Plugs promo codes to brands you’ve never heard of. Also sells pre-loved items, such as a day-old bra, with the same passion as (insert celebrity here). In hindsight, you have gotta love their enthusiasm.

The Motivational Speaker

Hustler - The Motivational Speaker

The look: This hustler is loud and exudes an unusual amount of testosterone. His gym photos often come with captions that read ‘Living for the grind. Hustle err day all day’. Common IG stories include the stock market, stacks of bills, or an SUV.

The strategy: Plugs a stock market app or offers to be your own financial consultant. Speeches can begin with ‘dude, pare, chong’ followed by Internet motivational quotes about grabbing life by the horns.

The 9 to 5

Hustler - The 9 to 5

The look: Eyebags, or more appropriately, Eye luggage. This hustler constantly complains of being a corporate slave and wanting to quit, but that’s as far as they would go. It’s not their fault, though. Being alive is expensive AF, so they probably have a ton of expenses to attend to.

But don’t get fooled: beneath that OT-weary facade is a desire to invest or start a biz just like the rest of us.

The strategy: None, for now. Maybe they’ll enjoy more financial wiggle room in the future.

The Knowledge Hoarder

Hustler - The Knowledge Hoarder

The look: This hustler can be anyone, really. The extremely social extrovert. The well-informed introvert. The constant thing is they seem to be always doing something productive with their time.

The strategy: Either because they’re newbies or looking to grow, they eat information for breakfast. Ted Talks are their bible, Discord servers are their parties, and Internet groups such as the Dell Entrepreneurial Network (DEN) are their definition of hang.

But in case none of the above hustles appeal to you, or you simply don’t know where to start, you can other find business insights, opportunities, and more by joining the DEN business community at https://www.facebook.com/groups/denph
