Comelec will allow online reactivation of delisted voters soon

Today marks 49 days before the last day of voter registration. With the suspension of certain registration areas due to quarantine restrictions, some people are still hoping for a chance to apply. Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that voters who failed to vote for two consecutive elections could apply online in August.

Commissioner Rowena Guanzon clarified on her social media pages that delisted voters can apply for reactivation through email. She said, ‘6.3 million voters were deactivated but their biometrics are still in the database of the Commission on Elections, hence they need not apply for reactivation in person.’

Persons with disabilities (PWD) and senior citizens are also eligible for online reactivation. Guanzon noted that the procedure details will follow.

Despite the lockdown in Metro Manila and several other areas in the country, voters registration will only last until September 30. However, Guanzon assured the public that Comelec is developing ways for applicants to have more time.

‘Next meeting we will deliberate remedial measures due to ECQ. I will propose Sunday (registration). Some commissioners suggested extended hours,’ she said on Tuesday.

For other voting information, you can check how to register with your mobile phones or read a more straightforward guide. Meanwhile, Filipinos abroad can also register through Comelec’s Office for Overseas Voting (OFOV) online.
