PNP’s ‘tiny bubble’ rule was linked to a song and milk tea pearls

The National Capital Region is under its third enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) which will last until August 20. With that said, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Thursday that Metro Manila cities and Pateros would be recognized as ‘individual’ or ‘tiny’ bubbles.

In an interview with DZMM’s Teleradyo on Wednesday, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said, ‘From one large bubble, including the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal, the NCR will shift to tiny bubbles.’

Working Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR) will be allowed to cross borders, along with non-APOR divers. However, consumers in charge of buying essential goods are prohibited to leave their town or city during the lockdown. PNP deployed thousands of cops in their respective checkpoints on Friday, the first day of the lockdown.

Twitter users, as expected, expressed their own thoughts on the term that Eleazar used. Some people tweeted the lyrics of the song, Tiny Bubbles, and another joked about a ‘Pearly Shells’ implementation. There was also another post that related it to a milk tea’s bubble pearls.

Another person got creative and shared that the country’s unofficial series is titled “ECQ”, wherein “Tiny Bubbles” is the current episode’s name. A cartoonist also joined in with a satire artwork of Eleazar blowing small bubbles towards a COVID-19 figure.
