BBM actually means ‘Bea Binene Movement’, says the Internet

There are famous acronyms that oftentimes don’t need any explanation, and Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. has somewhat coined the “BBM” abbreviation. When the former senator and failed VP candidate announced his 2022 presidential run, it led to the hashtag #BBMismypresident. But earlier today, Twitter users made an exception for those three letters and declared that it actually stands for Bea Binene movement.

Do you know how some fandoms label their idols as their “president”? Case in point: Nadine Lustre was fondly named as the unofficial president of the country. But this time, Filipina actress Bea Binene is in the spotlight. The 23-year-old was known for her roles in teleseryes such as First Time and Luna Blanca. She was also part of a couple of local films in the past.

Other people online expressed their own meaning behind the BBM acronym as well. There was a tweet that defined it as “Baliw na Baliw kay Moriya Rena”, who happens to be a Japanese singer. Another user said it’s “Baliw na Baliw kay Min Jeong”, referring to a member of the South Korean girl group aespa.

It doesn’t stop there since others pitched in and said BBM stands for Babymetal, an independent recording group that Japanese singer Moa Kukuchi is part of. Another post called it “Bewitched and Bewildered by Meryl Streep” along with photos of the actress. There was also a tweet that said BlackBerry Messenger is the only BBM that should make a comeback.
