UP opens college applications for aspiring Iskos and Iskas

Before closing the chapter of your senior year in high school, landing a spot in your dream university is probably one of your goals. If you’re hoping to land a spot at the University of the Philippines (UP), freshmen applicants can now apply for the academic year 2022-2023.

The official Facebook page of the UP system officially announced its college applications on Tuesday, October 26.  Aspiring Iskolar ng Bayan students are advised to visit upcollegeadmissions.up.edu.ph to access the Application Portal, where they are required to read the General Information Bulletin.

UP has suspended its entrance exams for AY 2021-2022, but for the upcoming school year, it remains undecided whether or not a test will be required to screen applicants. It said on the  UP College Admissions website,  ‘Due to the dynamic developments in the public health situation in the light of Covid-19, there is no final decision yet as to whether an admission test will be administered for intake year 2022-2023.’

If ever UP requires an entrance exam, the main components of the UP admission grade (UPG) would be composed of the applicant’s test result and high school grade. However, if there won’t be an entrance exam, the applicant’s final grades in Grades 8, 9, 10, and 11 would be used as the basis to determine the UPG.

Specific degree programs might ask for additional requirements to qualify for admission if deemed necessary. In light of UP’s policy of democratic access, it also acknowledges socioeconomic and geographic factors in its admission process. The deadline for submission of all application documents is on November 30, 2021.
