You can register to vote again until October 30

If there’s one thing that gives you power as a citizen, it’s your capability to vote. There’s no surprise how lawmakers and youth organizations fought for the extension of voter registration. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) offices and mall registration sites resume accepting voter applicants on October 11, Monday.

Comelec announced that the extension will be held for three weeks starting today, which will be conducted on Mondays to Fridays from 8 AM to 5 PM. There will be no registration on Saturdays, except on the last day, October 30. The poll body’s post also included an updated list of satellite registration sites.

Voting is an important process to select one’s selected candidates for the upcoming 2022 elections in the country, and Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez encouraged Filipinos to register to vote on his personal Twitter account.

Jimenez also tweeted other reminders for those who are about to vote:
1) A filled-up voter registration form printed back-to-back on long bond paper (downloadable at comelec.gov.ph)
2) A valid ID
3) Photocopy of the ID

The Comelec spokesperson also addressed the common inquiry of some people on what they should do when they don’t have an ID, a requirement for applying. He said, Kung wala talagang ID, pwede magsama ng isang registered voter na nakatira sa area mo, at sya ang magpapatotoo ng iyong identity at residence.’

While the initial deadline for voter registration was on September 30, Comelec approved the request of lawmakers in the House and Senate for the extension. The poll body paused on accommodating applicants from October 1 to 8 due to the filing of certificates of candidacy (COC).
