Your fave KathNiel films will get a Bollywood remake

Whether you find it corny or nakakakilig, there’s probably one KathNiel film that you will never get tired of rewatching. Five blockbuster hits of the reel-to-real life couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla are set to have a Bollywood remake.

ABS-CBN Film Productions announced that it has signed an agreement with India’s Globe One Studios for the following films to be adapted: She’s Dating The Gangster (2014), Crazy Beautiful You (2015), Barcelona: A Love Untold (2016), Can’t Help Falling In Love (2017), and The Hows Of Us (2018), which was the top-grossing film at the box office in the country that year.

The deal marks history in Philippine cinema since it’s the first time for India to localize five Filipino films. While OG fans are used to seeing KathNiel as the face behind all five movies, the remake will cast a new pair of Bollywood love teams.

ABS-CBN Films managing director Olivia Lamasan said it’s a great opportunity for them to share heartfelt stories with global audiences.  She said, ‘The Philippines and India share many common values, among which is the strong love for family that resonates in our films and will soon be experienced by the people of India.’

India’s Global One Studios president Ramesh Krishnamoorthy also expressed his excitement with their recent deal. He said, ‘We are happy to be associated with ABS-CBN Films to bring their well-crafted love stories to the people of India by adapting their heartrending films in Indian languages.’

The announcement of the Indian adaptation comes at a time when Bernardo and Padilla are celebrating their 10th anniversary as a love team. Their tandem started back in 2011, where they both starred in a television drama series Growing Up.
