‘Dolomite Man’ arrives in Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer
ICYMI, the final trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home just dropped – and we’re finally getting our Sinister Six! The 3-min teaser shows the return of villains from previous non-Marvel Spidey movies, such as Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, The Lizard, Sandman, and Electro.
Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin were already teased during the first teaser, while Jamie Foxx spoiled and later took down the news of his return as Electro on social media.
No Way Home’s premise remains the same: after being outed as Spider-Man in front of the whole world, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) turns to Doctor Strange to erase everyone’s memory of his secret identity. The spell goes awry and opens the doors of the multiverse to foes and possibly, heroes, alike.
Aside from Doc Ock and Green Gobbie, Filipinos couldn’t help but notice how Sandman, now called ‘Dolomite Man,’ bears a slight resemblance to a certain ‘Tatay’ figure. Thomas Hayden Church initially portrayed the character in 2007’s Spider-Man 3, but this could be a different version given the lack of news about his return.
Maybe this Dolomite Man and his potty mouth could give Marvel Studios the R-rating it needs to break the monotony of cookie-cutter releases. Or perhaps his biggest superpower isn’t sand, but the long, inane speeches that could lull even the strongest of wills to sleep.
In any case, we’re betting our mental health will greatly benefit from all of the nostalgia once Dolomite Man and other classic Spidey villains return in Spider-Man: No Way Home this December 17th.
