Kim Seon-ho will play a Filipino-Korean boxer in his debut film
From playing Han Ji-pyeong a.k.a. Good Boy to his recent Netflix series Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, Kim Seon-ho stans will see him on the big screen soon. Production company NEW announced that its producers have decided to include the South Korean actor in the movie titled Sad Tropics.
Sad Tropics follows a story about a Filipino-Korean man who aspires to be a boxer and travels to South Korea to find his father who abandoned him. It will be directed by Park Hoon Jung, who’s known for other hit films like New World, V.I.P, and The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion.
According to Soompi, this will mark Seon-ho’s movie-acting debut. He might also star alongside actress Go Ara who was part of other K-dramas such as Reply 1988 and Hospital Playlist. The upcoming film was scheduled to be shot in mid-November but it’s now set to begin in December.

The announcement of Seon-ho’s inclusion in the forthcoming film comes after a heated controversy involving his former girlfriend. It caused him to be removed from two other movies, namely Dog Days and a romantic comedy film 2 O’Clock Date. Many brands also dropped the 35-year-old actor following the issue.
Earlier this month, a woman posted accusations in an online community that Seon-ho forced her to get an abortion when they were still together. The actor then released a statement and admitted that the woman was his ex-girlfriend. He apologized and said, ‘I experienced a fear that felt for the first time after the article with the mention of my name was released a while ago, and that is why I am writing this now.’
‘I was seeing her with good emotions,’ he explained. ‘In that process, I hurt her due to my carelessness and inconsiderate actions. I wanted to meet and apologize to her directly, but I am not able to properly convey the apology now and am waiting for that time to come. For now, I would like to genuinely apologize to her through this statement.’
