You might soon get vaxxed at McDonald’s and Jollibee branches
People usually go to Jollibee or McDo to grab a bite of their fave meals, but soon enough, there might be another important reason for their visit. The Jollibee Group and McDonald’s Philippines offered select branches as vaccination venues to encourage more Filipinos to get jabbed against COVID-19 and assist the government in meeting its target.
Taskforce T3, a public-private group that aids pandemic initiatives, said that the two fast-food corporations would offer their restaurants in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and other key cities outside Metro Manila. Vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez and deputy chief implementer Vince Dizon have already endorsed the proposal of the two companies to LGUs nationwide.
McDonald’s Managing Director Margot Torres said, ‘We are willing to offer the space in our stores for 2 weeks in November, to help LGUs administer the 1st doses for the eligible population of adults and those aged 12-17 years old.’
Jollibee Group’s Chief Sustainability and Public Affairs Officer Pepot Miñana explained they can work with the Department of Health to guarantee a smooth vaccination process. He said, ‘We expect that we can achieve 150 to 300+ jabs per day depending on the location, size and store layout.’
Both Jollibee and McDonald’s PH are supporters of Taskforce T3‘s Ingat Angat, Bakuna Lahat campaign, which aims at educating the public about coronavirus and vaccines. It also helps with the government’s inoculation drive by giving private sector expertise in logistics and boosting demand for vaccination.
The government is aiming to fully vaccinate 77.1 million Filipinos this year to be able to achieve herd immunity against the disease. However, it has reached only 38.6 percent of the said target as of November 8. In Metro Manila, vaccinated individuals are at around 88 percent of its target population, while other regions are staggering.
