Neon is Valorant’s new badass and electric Filipino agent

One of the famous video games right now just revealed its 18th playable character. Valorant’s latest addition is a Filipino agent named Neon, who can be seen in a newly released video trailer as she cleans her room full of PH references, and presents a glimpse of her abilities.

When you hit play on the short video, catch Neon as she gives her space a makeover. You’ll see a photo of her with what seems like an aspin, a framed Pilipinas No. 5 jersey, and also a Ylona Garcia song playing in the background. Bonus: hearing the agent say, ‘Hay, Buhay,’ is such a mood.

While Riot Games hasn’t officially announced details on Neon’s power, you’ll see what she could possibly offer as a Duelist a.k.a. the ones who are expected to engage in fights. In the video, the new agent flexes her speed and electricity powers.

Neon shows that she can form two walls of electricity that opponents have to fight through. She can also sprint and slide, and another ability that appears like her Ultimate is a solid beam of electricity that she can fire at rivals. Players have to wait for Valorant’s Episode 4: Disruption update to try out this new badass agent.

If you’re hyped up about the fact that Neon is from Manila, the voice behind the agent is actually a Filipino voice actor named Vanille Velasquez. She expressed her excitement in a tweet, ‘This has been such a dream come true. I’m kind of at a loss right now. This doesn’t feel real. I can’t believe I’m really saying this right now.’

Another Filipino that was part of the whole reveal was Ylona Garcia. In Neon’s trailer, her synth-pop track titled Entertain Me basically gave life to the whole cinematic.
