‘Free delivery’ is the top reason Filipinos shop online
Ever since the pandemic started, more Filipinos have transitioned to purchasing online – from home decor, kitchen equipment, and clothing. Recently, an annual report on digital consumption revealed the top reason why adding online shoppers like adding to cart so much: free delivery.
While the popularity of using shopping apps is not surprising for others, the Digital 2022 report presented a list of “online purchase drivers“. Internet users aged 16 to 64 were asked what factors would encourage them to actually buy online.
Other reasons why Filipinos participate in those monthly sales or just simply buy online are dependent on customer reviews, coupons and discounts, cash on delivery option, simple online checkout, “likes and comments on social, and easy returns, among many others.
According to We Are Social and Kepios’ Digital 2022: Philippines report, Shopee ranked fourth in the Philippines’ most-visited website, which also makes it the top e-commerce platform. In the same list, Lazada made it to the 9th spot. The data was cited from Semrush, an online ranking data company.
The report also included the two major online shopping apps in the country in three other lists. When it comes to the Top Google Shopping Queries, Shopee was at the top spot, while Lazada was in the fourth. The following google shopping search activity was analyzed between January 1 to December 31, 2021.
There were also two lists ranked by data science company App Annie. For the most downloaded apps in the Philippines, Shopee secured the 6th spot and Lazada placed 9th. Then for apps with the most active users, Lazada and Shopee ranked at 3rd and 4th, respectively.
