KaLeody.Com redirects to Bongbong Marcos’ website

Presidential aspirant Ka Leody de Guzman has cried foul over ‘domain grabbing’ after discovering that the URL kaleody.com redirects to bongbongmarcos.com, the website of fellow candidate Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.

The labor leader took to his socials to expose the redirect while lamenting the ‘dirty tricks’ that have decorated the campaign season. De Guzman clarified that his official website is kaleody.org.

‘Inaasahan nating marumi ang eleksyon ng mga elitista’t tradisyunal na partido, ngunit hindi ko inakalang pati pangalan ko pala ay magagawa nilang nakawin’, wrote de Guzman in a post.

‘Wala silang patawad, lahat na lang ay kanilang inaangkin.’

De Guzman also urged the proper authorities to investigate the matter. Marcos Jr.’s camp has yet to give a statement.

Is Marcos automatically at fault?

It is important to note that while the redirect leads to bongbongmarcos.com, it does not prove that Marcos and his camp are the culprits. Anyone can buy URLs or web addresses in just a few clicks.

Still, getting your name hijacked is never fun, so it’s understandable that De Guzman and his team are pissed. Whether or not the culprit is a real Marcos supporter is up in the air, but the issue further emphasizes the role the Internet will play in elections for years to come.
