Japan’s Shibuya crossing turned pink for Leni-Kiko

The campaign of presidential candidate VP Leni Robredo and her running mate Sen. Kiko Pangilinan always make a mark – from fun e-rallies on Animal Crossing to large in-person sorites. A few days ago, kakampinks in Japan held a march at the Shibuya crossing to show their support for the tandem.

Team Leni Robredo (TLR) Global Japan sent media outlets photos, which showed around 300 supporters of the Leni-Kiko team as they paraded from Harunogawa Community Park and passed through several establishments and landmarks.

TLR Global Japan also hoped the move could help build more momentum for Robredo, who accumulated 9 points in Pulse Asia’s March 17 to 21 poll to 24% versus 56% for rival Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who declined four points.

The iconic landmark in Tokyo’s commercial district was flooded by people who are mostly dressed in pinks, and some even came in drag wear. There’s even a TikTok user who caught parts of it on cam. TLR Global Japan said in a statement, ‘Others carried placards with cheeky quotes or tarpaulins bearing the names of the candidates.’

‘A few of these ‘screamers’ had Japanese translations or were written using Japanese characters,’ it added. The Shibuya walk also coincided with the Leni-Kiko People’s Rally in Pampanga, which witnessed the largest crowd to date amid the campaign trail. Police and organizers estimated the event had 220,000 attendees.
