The Internet still wants Logan Lerman to be in Disney’s ‘Percy Jackson’ series

No matter how many revivals a film would get, nothing beats the original characters – and this is evident when it comes to the Percy Jackson cast. While the world hoped for Logan Lerman to star in Disney+’s adaptation of the novel, Rick Riordan revealed that Walker Scobell was the one who landed the role.

On his website, Riordan officially named Scobell as the lead in the upcoming series as he blew away the creators with his audition tape for the role of Percy. The author expressed how Scobell had the “perfect mix of comedic timing, sweetness, rebelliousness, snark and heroism” to play the titular demigod.

If the 13-year-old actor seems familiar, you might have seen him in the Netflix film The Adam Project. But Riordan said Scobell already auditioned months before he gained popularity because of his breakout role.

Meanwhile, Scobell has also gone through multiple chemistry reads with candidates for the other two leads, Annabeth and Grover. But while they’re still on the lookout for the actors for those two roles, the new Percy is set to begin working on the series in the summer.

Following Riordan’s announcement, Logan Lerman became a trending topic on Twitter as fans felt nostalgic. Some even see him as the ideal fit to play Poseidon, the god of the sea a.k.a. the father of Percy. Others hoped Alexandra Daddario would also make a cameo.

The upcoming Percy Jackson show under Disney+ will be directed by James Bobin, and the pilot episode will be written by Riordan and Jon Steinberg. The novel was previously adapted into two live-action films: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief in 2010 and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters in 2013.
