BTS will visit the White House to discuss anti-Asian hate crimes
BTS previously stressed its stand against racial discrimination following a surge of anti-Asian hate crimes in the U.S. For the group’s recent effort in condemning the issue, they will meet with President Joe Biden to discuss concerns related to Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders Heritage (AANHPI) Month.
The K-pop stars were invited to the White House on Tuesday, May 31. A press statement shared that Biden will also talk to the group about “the importance of diversity and inclusion and BTS’ platform as youth ambassadors who spread a message of hope and positivity across the world.”
One of the group’s members and main rapper RM shared the decision on Weverse, an online fan platform. He mentioned that the invitation has a “good cause.” Additional details about the visit will be released soon.

BTS and Biden’s meeting will take place when AANHPI month comes to a close. Reports on attacks against people of Asian descent have soared as some politicians and experts have prompted Americans to blame China for COVID-19, among other issues.
Big Hit Music, the group’s management, said in a statement that it was honored to be invited to the White House. It read, ‘As we are visiting as artists representing South Korea, we look forward to discussing various topics including inclusion, diversity, anti-Asian hate crimes, culture and art.’
