‘Drag Race PH’ will premiere on August with ‘Untucked’ spinoff show

You’re about to figure out who will be the first drag superstar in the country in the upcoming series Drag Race Philippines, which is the global show’s franchise. Production company World of Wonder announced through a trailer that the show is set to premiere on August 17.

While the trailer teased parts of the runway stage and a blurry glimpse of the contestants, it also revealed that Filipino drag queen Jiggy Caliente will be part of the panel. Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the RuPaul’s Drag Race season 4 icon will be a permanent judge in the hit series.

Referencing beauty queen Venus Raj, Caliente said she is “overjoyed in a major major way” to be part of the Philippine franchise. She added, ‘There is a fierce Filipino drag scene and I am proud to be returning to my home country in this new role as a Drag Race judge to shine a spotlight on these incredible artists to the world — or the universe, rather. Pak! Mabuhay, Drag Race!’

The trailer also showed that Drag Race Philippines will be having an Untucked series, which will air together with new episodes. The Untucked segment gives viewers behind-the-scenes footage of drag contestants’ activities and unseen drama.

RuPaul previously announced that Drag Race Philippines was opening its casting audition in August 2021. Further details about the competition, including the names of the host and contestants, have yet to be disclosed.

The Philippines is one of the countries to be in a line with the drag show’s international iterations, which also include the United Kingdom, Spain, Canada, Thailand, Holland, and Chile.
