Shanti Dope pays tribute to your hustle in a powerful new anthem: “Maya”

“People see your success, but rarely your hustle.”

This is a familiar truth among today’s young generation, who are considered driven, ambitious, and courageous. They are progressive thinkers who refuse to be boxed into a day job or a label, and their connections, passion projects, and side hustles make this possible.

But just because the goal is clear doesn’t mean the path is easy. Many face societal and cultural barriers, but through sheer will, the youth perseveres.

It’s this hustle mindset that Shanti Dope pays tribute to his generation in his newest single, Maya.

Maya aims to become an anthem of defiance with optimism. The line “Ey, kamusta?” serves as a repeating vibe check for listeners, and is met with assurances that Shanti – along with other relentless hustlers – can only go bigger, higher, and stronger.

In retrospect, how can we not? As the rap artist bares, the youth are energetic, outspoken free thinkers who possess the spirit to soar above the naysayers, much like the iconic Filipino bird that the title references.

Thanks to our ingenuity – age, social class, and non-believers act more like road bumps than brick walls.

On Wednesday, Shanti Dope also launched a bold music video for Maya. Set in the iconic streets of Metro Manila, the material perfectly encapsulates the young Filipinos of today – brave, original, and ingenious. It gives faces to the generation that’s never afraid to challenge conventions, break barriers, and most of all, hustle.

With its triumphant horns, memorable hook, and Shanti’s signature flow, Maya is a banger of a track that could rock a sold-out stadium or the next big revolution in the streets. It transcends circumstance, similar to the youth’s ability to succeed.

Maya is available on all streaming platforms.
