Team PH’s ‘Agila’ barong in the 31st SEA Games will retail for P20,000

Team Philippines was prepared to represent the country in the 31st SEA Games through their respective sports and their homegrown style. Athletes and officials were sporting designs by Francis Libiran, whose Barong Tagalog piece can soon be bought for P20,000.

The Filipino designer has been chosen for the second time to create the country’s parade uniforms for the multi-sport event. As seen on pole vaulter and the country’s flagbearer EJ Obiena, the barong featured the Philippine Eagle as the focal point.

The Filipino delegates’ barong had the red and blue colors of the Philippine flag on the left side that runs from collar to cuff. Libiran explained, ‘I also made use of Philippine fibers and materials which beautifully highlight my signature art deco embroidery.’

In a press release, Libiran expressed that he was ecstatic to create new designs for Team Philippines. He added, ‘I have always been passionate about fusing my own design flare with our culture.’

Libiran previously designed the iconic The Flag Barong Tagalog during the 2019 SEA Games held in the Philippines. Over 3,000 athletes and team members were dressed in his design for the grand parade.

You can pre-order The Agila once it’s available on Libiran’s official website.
