ARMYs are emotional over BTS members releasing solo albums

BTS has given their fans a memorable Grammy performance and a new album to have on repeat this year. But on June 14, they premiered a dinner party video, where they announced that they’re taking a break as a group and pursuing solo albums.

While Suga said that the K-pop group will be on a “hiatus”, entertainment company Hybe clarified, ‘BTS are not taking a hiatus. Members will be focusing more on solo projects at this time.’ Following the statement, the Internet joked that BTS broke the fastest hiatus in history.

In the so-called FESTA video, all seven members took the time to express their thoughts on the matter. J-hope noted that they should “spend some time apart” for now and hoped that fans would see it as a healthy move. It’s too early to set a set date for their comeback, but Jungkook promised that BTS will “return someday.”

Meanwhile, RM said he thinks that the “problem” with the K-pop system is how it doesn’t give artists the “time to mature”, as if there’s no time left for growth. He added that he felt lost with the group’s direction after releasing Butter and Permission to Dance. But he did clarify with teary eyes, ‘I always want to be RM of BTS.’

On Twitter, ARMYs had different reactions to the group’s decision. One user said that BTS’ break won’t be similar to One Direction’s separation since the South Korean members actually get along. Others were really supportive of the septet’s upcoming solo career.

ARMYs are also seemingly holding on to the lyrics from BTS’ latest single Yet To Come. It goes, ‘Promise that we’ll keep on coming back for more.’
