‘All Too Well’ short film by filmmaker Taylor Swift is qualified for an Oscar
Is there anything Doctor of Fine Arts Taylor Swift can’t do?
As if ’22 is definitely Taylor’s year, another milestone is set in store for her career.
Taylor Swift’s directorial debut has just been qualified for a nomination for the Best Live Action Short Film category for the upcoming Oscars 2023. The ‘All Too Well‘ short film stars Swift herself, Teen Wolf‘s Dylan O’ Brien, and Stranger Things‘ Sadie Sink and was written and directed by the singer-songwriter.
Per the Hollywood Reporter, the 14-minute short film would’ve also been nominated for Best Picture had it been released within the eligibility window for films to be nominated in this category.
The qualification is a big feat in itself, as Taylor has never been Oscar-nominated.
The ‘All Too Well’ short film, which the 32-year-old described as “a film about an effervescent, curious young woman who ends up completely out of her depth.” was filmed and shown a decade after her power ballad’s original release following the launch of Red (Taylor’s Version), her second re-recorded album.
Before performing the song at the short film’s premiere, Taylor clarified that this was not a music video for the predecessor song with the same title.
Taylor would be one step closer to achieving one of Hollywood’s biggest prestige, the EGOT status, should the nomination fall through and she wins the Oscar.
EGOT refers to the big four major award-giving bodies in the USA: The Emmys, The Grammys, The Oscars, and The Tony Awards.
Taylor has secured the Grammys bag with wins such as Album of the Year and Best Music Video.
