The Sims 4 will be free to play this October

All new players will be able to download for free on PC via the EA App or Origin, Mac via Origin or Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One systems.

Originally released in 2014, the popular social simulator Sims 4 has been played by more than 30 million players worldwide. Now both old and new fans alike of the game can enjoy it for free!

In a press release publisher EA stated that their effort to make the game downloadable for free is to help EA change their game’s payment model.

Players who have purchased Sims 4 from September 14 to October 17 will receive the Desert Luxe Kit as a gift. Subscribers to the EA Access or Xbox Game Pass would also be able to enjoy the gameplay of The Sims 4 with no additional cost to their subscriptions.

Game fans were still assured by EA that despite the game being accessible for free, they will still continue content in the foreseeable future with additional packs and kits. On October 18, 10 AM PDT, a special edition live stream will air via the Sims channels on Youtube and Twitch for Behind the Sims Summit.
