An Asian woman speaks out after being targeted and attacked by a racist in Edmonton last Monday, July 13.

According to the report of Rachelle Elsiufi posted in the “CityNews Edmonton” Facebook page, the video started in the middle of a dispute between a man and the Asian woman named Patricia Medrano – who also took the said video. He was seen targeting Medrano saying she is bringing coronavirus into Canada. The man then kicked the door at Medrano.

After this, we could hear Medrano saying, “Why are you hurting me?”

Things escalate when the said man threatened to behead her. When Medrano calls out the man for being racist, he does a Nazi salute and says, “Get out! Get the f*** out of Canada!”

Medrano says this left her shaking in fear.
“At that moment, like, I’m scared for our safety. I don’t want it to happen again to anyone, like no one deserves it. Like, it’s really traumatizing,” said Medrano in her interview with the “City News Edmonton.”

This incident happened at Medrano’s apartment in Edmonton’s west end. She was with her two brothers when the man made a pass at her. When she declined his offer, he became belligerent. She then started recording shortly thereafter.

After this hallway incident, Medrano’s brothers called the police. They waited for the officers at the parking lot. Medrano said that Edmonton Police Service (EPS) did not show up until the next morning.

In the meantime, the incident continues as the man was yelling through her apartment window.

Medrano then told the “City News” that the man was arrested by the police who finally came the next morning. She said that he was also banned from the building. But she fears that he might come back.

“I’m already afraid, like I don’t know what will happen next anymore.”

Medrano received few bruises after the said incident. She knows those will heal but she hasn’t feel the same since. She then tells that it’s been hard for her to look at strangers in the eyes.

But there is one stranger Medrano wants to thank – a neighbor from another building who stood up for them in the parking lot.

Medrano said in her interview, “I kinda felt safe even just for a little bit because there’s this guy who’s trying to protect us, who’s trying to stood for us and I am really grateful for that.”

Later on, the man was identified as Rylee Dodd, 28, who will now face charges of uttering threats and assault.
