After 96 days of 0 local cases, New Zealand reports two new positive patients from PH

Welp

After 96 days straight of zero locally-acquired COVID-19 cases, New Zealand’s Ministry of Health has reported two new positive cases in the country – with both individuals coming from the Philippines.

The two travelers came from PH and flew via Hong Kong before testing positive in isolation. Details of the patients remain undisclosed, though they may have flew in on a non-essential flight while airport restrictions loosened in July. While they did came from PH, it’s unconfirmed if the patients were actually Filipinos.

The number of active COVID-19 cases at New Zealand’s border is now up to 24, totaling to 1,219 cases for the country.

As the new cases are being treated, the NZ government urges citizens to utilize the country’s official ‘NZ COVID Tracer‘ app – which features digital contract tracing for all.
