Corleone who? Duque tagged as PhilHealth mafia ‘godfather’

Plot twist…?

It seems that the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)’s alleged fraud issue just goes on and on, from the whopping PHP 15B reveal to the growing number of executives calling in sick.

This time, it seems that the Department of Health (DOH) head Francisco Duque III is also allegedly in the picture – as he’s been tagged as the ‘godfather‘ of the entire operation.

The claims come from former PhilHealth anti-fraud officer Thorrsson Montes Keith, who was also the initial whistleblower of the alleged PHP 15B being given off to ‘syndicates‘.

‘Maituturing ko na siya ang godfather ng mafia’ Keith shared during the third Senate probe on August 18.

Doon po sa Interim Reimbursement Mechanism, siya po ang chairman. As a chairman  mayroon pong due diligence po na gagawin ang isang chairman and considering na he’s a doctor and mayroon siyang institutional knowledge sa pamamalakad sa PhilHealth.’

As it was also his first time to join the Senate hearing, Duque quickly opposed Keith’s allegations.

‘I deny this. Absolutely malicious and without basis. I do not wish to dignify that allegation.’

Duque also doubted PhilHealth head Ricardo Morales’ involvement in the case, as he pointed out that there hasn’t been hard evidence to prove that Morales was directly in charge of the alleged fraud.

The PhilHealth President has yet to attend the hearings, as he’s currently on medical leave due to his lymphoma chemotherapy.

Meanwhile, Senate Leader Tito Sotto plans to terminate the Senate probings altogether, as they have apparently already been bombarded with PhilHealth’s ‘carousel of denials and lies’.

So, when’s justice coming?
