Iconic Katipunan bar Route 196 has packed up its bags and closed down its doors amidst the Coronavirus pandemic.
The longtime venue has been the go-to spot for gigs and hangouts, but the lockdowns have undoubtedly hit local establishments and the gig industry hard.
‘We may be walking towards a different direction for now, but we wanted to make sure you had something to always remind you of our crazy ride together, the things we learned, the noise we made, the rules we broke, and the friends we picked up along the way,’ the bar announced via Facebook.

They also dropped official ‘farewell‘ T-shirts sold at PHP 850 and designed by Rob Cham. You can check them out at manilatakeout.com.

Route is just one of the many local businesses closing down amidst the pandemic, as popular Cubao safe space TodayxFuture also shut down its doors last June.
