Uncle Roger finally found redemption for Egg Fried Rice Lady (sort of)

It was almost a month ago when Malaysian comedian Nigel Ng (aka ‘Uncle Roger’) roasted BBC Radio host Hersha Patel for her egg fried rice recipe, which caused a hilarious uproar with Asians everywhere.

Now, after teasing a collab a few weeks earlier, Ng has finally met up with Patel to see her cook her real version of the dish. After enduring so much hate and trolling, did Patel manage to redeem herself? Short answer: Yes, sort of.

The end result didn’t exactly live up to Uncle Roger’s standards, as it lacked absurd amounts of MSG. However, Patel did remember to wash the grains beforehand, didn’t use a colander (much to Roger’s relief), and used cold, leftover rice as everyone should.

Overall, it was dish great enough for home cooking, but not for those kidney-stone-inducing Chinese restaurants. Everything is right with the world again.
