Congrats to Zendaya, the youngest Emmy winner for Lead Actress in Drama
It’s official: Zendaya is an Emmy winner. Per Variety, the 24-year-old earned the nod for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as the struggling drug-addict Rue in HBO’s Euphoria.
The win also makes her the youngest Emmy winner in the category, being two years younger than then-26-year-old Jodie Comer, who won for Killing Eve in 2019.
Zendaya thanked the show’s cast and crew, while leaving a message of hope during these troubled times.
‘I know this feels like a really weird time to be celebrating’, she said.
‘But I just want to say that there is hope in the young people out there. I know that our TV show doesn’t always feel like a great example of that, but there is hope in the young people. And I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets, I see you, I admire you, I thank you’.
