‘Rick and Morty’ beats ‘Bojack Horseman’ in the 2020 Emmys
Vat of acid > actual closure, we guess
After the news spread that our fave existential shows were going head to head in the 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards, all bets were off for the longrunning Emmy-less Horse.
Though in a surprising turn of events, ‘Rick and Morty‘s ‘The Vat of Acid of Episode’ has officially beaten Bojack’s penultimate series finale ‘View from the Halfway Down’ for Outstanding Animated Program.
ICDK, ‘The Vat of Acid of Episode’ is the Adult Swim show’s fourth season entry that turns the body-switching genre on its head and diverts audience expectations. (Spoiler: It doesn’t just happen in a vat of acid).
Meanwhile, Bojack’s ‘View from the Halfway Down’ is an exploration into the titular character’s near-death experience as he reunites with all the show’s deceased characters.
The two shows were up against FOX’s ‘The Simpsons’, ‘Bob’s Burgers’, and Netflix’s ‘Big Mouth’.
This serves as ‘Rick and Morty’s 2nd Emmy after 2018’s ‘Pickle Rick’ episode. The win also officially makes ‘Bojack Horseman‘ a non-Emmy winning show after 3 nominations and a 6-season run. In a way, it’s poetically Bojack.
Bojack’s voice Will Arnett puts its best
Bojack Horseman never won an Emmy… and I think that’s kinda perfect.
