Disneyland’s latest addition is a Chadwick Boseman mural
*Cue the tears
Disneyland California paid homage to the Black Panther himself when it unveiled its newest addition: a mural of the late Chadwick Boseman in its Downtown Disney shopping district.
The artwork sees Boseman doing the ‘Wakanda Salute’ with a young boy wearing a Black Panther mask. Per Variety, the piece was done by artist Nikkolas Smith, who shared the story behind his work on Instagram.
‘It’s is a full-circle moment for me: my final two projects as a Disney Imagineer last summer were working on the Children’s Hospital project and the Avengers Campus’, he wrote.
‘To millions of kids, T’Challa was a legend larger than life, and there was no one more worthy to fill those shoes than Chadwick Boseman. I’m so thankful to be able to honor Chadwick’s life and purpose in this way’.
Chadwick Boseman passed away last August 28 after a battle with colon cancer, which he managed to hide from the pvblic eye since his diagnosis in 2016 up until his death.
The news shocked the world, which then paid tribute to his various humanitarian efforts and his huge role in furthering the cause for black representation.
