‘Harry Potter’ is finally getting the open world game it deserves

Finally

A whole 2 years after rumors that the ‘Harry Potter‘ franchise will be getting the full-length open-world RPG that it deserves, Warner Bros has officially announced the launch of ‘Hogarts Legacy’.

Instead of playing Harry and his story for the nth time, the open-world wil take players on a ‘new‘ adventure through the wizarding school back from the 1800s. That means you can carve your own path as a bonafide wizard, minus the hijinks of Harry and the gang.

The epic trailer showcases breathtaking graphics from the upcoming game, featuring familiar scenes and locations from Hogwarts that you can explore and grow in as your own character.

‘Now is the time to add your own story to these hallowed walls, and quite possibly shape the future of the wizarding world,’ the narrator explains.

‘Every corridor, every portrait, every stone in this castle tells the story of witches and wizards who came before. Here you will meet lifelong friends and grow into your own magical abilities in the classrooms of the world’s most talented professors.’

Aside from exploring the giant castle by yourself, the game also features a backstory that could tie itself to the Harry Potter lore.

‘Experience a new story set at #Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. Make allies, battle Dark wizards and decide the fate of the wizarding world,’ the synopsis reads.

‘Hogwarts Legacy’ hasn’t dropped its official release date just yet, but we can expect to see it in PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X / Series S.
