‘Shaman King’ is getting a 2021 reboot
If you were a 90’s kid, you’ve probably heard about 2001’s ‘Shaman King’.
Along with other old-school animes such as Yu Yu Hakusho or Inuyasha, the show had a pretty entertaining concept concerning the paranormal: shamans, or people who can contact spirits, utilize the powers of ghosts to defeat other shamans for the title of ‘Shaman King’.
Think ‘Casper’, if Casper was a long-dead samurai who helped Christina Ricci in epic ghost battles.
Confusing synopsis aside, the anime based on the Hiroyuki Takei manga is getting a reboot. Per Anime News Network, the newest iteration will air in Japan in 2021 and is set to adapt all 35 issues of the series, which were released from 1998 to 2004.
The show will also see a return from several cast members from the OG run, such as Katsuyuki Konishi (Amidamaru), Megumi Hayashibara (Anna Kyoyama) and Minami Takayama (Hao Asakura).
