Studio Ghibli drops 400 free images from their iconic films
Studio Ghibli is treating its fans once again by dropping a crapton of stills from a couple of their most famous works, all free to download. Seeing as Hayao Miyazaki and Co are responsible for a good chunk of animation’s most gorgeous films, this one is a definite treat.
The entire gallery sees 400 images from eight movies, namely Spirited Away, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, Arrietty, Tales from Earthsea, When Marnie Was There, The Wind Rises, From Up on Poppy Hill, and Ponyo.
The studio only has one disclaimer: ‘Please feel free to use the images within the bounds of common sense’. This means that no, you can’t use the pics for selling unofficial merchandise, but you can repost them to impress your Twitter followers, for example.
The once-reclusive Japanese studio has since strived to provide greater access to its content in recent years. It notably allowed Netflix to host its films on the platform, dropped 38 albums on Spotify, and even churned out downloadable Zoom backgrounds.
You can check out the 400 images on Studio Ghibli’s website here.
